oval.jpgOval Face Shape

Almost any style works for an oval face, as long as the shape is proportionate to the size of the face. Experiment with frames that are as wide or slightly wider than the broadest part of the face. Square shaped frames with gently rounded edges and higher temples also look good on an oval face.

Frame suggestions - Any frame shape

round.jpgRound Face Shape

Frames should make the face appear longer and thinner. Minimize the curves and add narrowing definition with soft, angular, rectangular styles. Higher temples will create a longer profile. Combination frames (a plastic brow bar with a metal rim) are a good choice because they pull the eyes upwards, making the face appear longer.

Frame suggestions - Wider frames with Angular Rectangular Styles

square.jpgSquare Shape Face

To reduce the angles of the square shaped face with its strong jaw line, broad forehead, and a wide chin and cheekbones; use soft, curvy styles that will minimize angles and lengthen the face to give it some definition. Higher temples or cat eyes will pull one's attention away from the jaw line and lengthen the face. Classic ovals are also a perfect choice.

Frame suggestions - Oval, Round, Cat Eye Styles

diamond.jpgDiamond Face Shape

This face shape has wide or high cheekbones with a narrow forehead and chin. Oval and softly curved squares will soften the contour of the face. Make sure the styles are no wider than the top of your cheekbones. Rimless frames are a popular choice, providing unbeatable comfort and one of a kind fashions. Combination frames (a plastic brow bar with a metal rim) are a good choice because they widen the forehead and minimize the temples and cheekbones.

Frame suggestions - Oval, Square, Rimless Styles

oblong.jpgOblong Shape Face

Widen and shorten the face with styles that don't extend beyond the widest part of the face. Wear round or square shapes. John Lennon style frames will look great on this face. Frames with short horizontal and long vertical lines also work. Decorative or contrasting temples add width to the face.

Frame suggestions - Round, Square

triangle.jpgTriangle Shape Face

This face shape has a wide jaw and a narrow forehead. Choose frames that add width to the forehead while softening and narrowing the appearance of the jaw, chin and cheeks. Frames should accent the eye area and be wide enough to balance the jaw line. Frames can be top heavy and angled inward at the bottom. You can also try metal frames with rimless bottoms.

Frame suggestions - Square, Straight Top Aviators, Semi-Rimless (no rim on the bottom half) and Cat Eye Frames.

heart.jpgHeart Shape Face

Minimize width in the upper portion of the face by choosing frames no wider than the forehead and angling outward at the bottom corners. Temples shouldn't be placed too high, as low temples will add balance. Frames should add width below the eye line to offset the narrow chin.

Frame suggestions - Mild Aviator, Low-Triangle and Rimless Styles in Very Light Colours.
