Our History

Relationships and trust are earned and formed. As one of Victoria’s oldest eye care businesses, our philosophy has always been to combine high levels of clinical care, exclusive eyewear and unbeatable service. Since 1949, Maycock Eyecare built on theses philosophies and has come to represent excellence in eye care and one-of-a-kind eyewear.

Ronald Maycock opened the first location of Maycock Optical in 1949 at the corner of Johnson and Broad in downtown Victoria.

Ronald always felt Maycock Optical had "One Purpose - To Serve You Well." And by offering this dedication to customer service with quality eyewear, Maycock Optical soon became a name people could count on for all their eye care products.

In 1971, Ronald's son Brian Maycock took over the daily operations of Maycock Optical.

The fresh-faced 25-year-old realized that while expert eye care and customer service were the cornerstones of Maycock Optical, there was room for the company to expand.

Brian Maycock was recognized in the industry for his innovation with contact lenses and low vision devices. Karen Maycock joined her husband in 1985 and has been an integral part of the company's success. Over the years, the two slowly added many exclusive eyewear lines to their collection.

In 2006, Maycock Optical was renamed Maycock Eyecare, in recognition of the transformation into a primary eye care practice. Expanded services including eye examinations by Dr. Jason Maycock are now offered at the downtown Victoria clinic.

2010 marked another milestone in our evolution, when Maycock Eyecare moved into our new clinic at 1318 Blanshard Street. This state of the art eye care facility and stunning eyewear dispensary has allowed us to provide the best experience in Victoria.

We look forward to continuing to build on past relationships and to form new ones in the delivery of Victoria’s most comprehensive eye care and stunning eyewear.
