Mandy Letkemann
Optometrist
Dr. Mandy Letkemann was born and raised in southern Ontario, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science at the University of Waterloo in 2006 after which she ventured off to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to complete her Optometry degree at Nova Southeastern University in 2010. Upon graduation, Mandy was excited to gain more knowledge and furthered her education in Langley, BC by completing a residency in primary care with emphasis on laser refractive and ocular surgery co-management in 2011. She acquired extensive experience in the management of patients who received various eye surgeries (laser, cataract and eyelid surgery to name a few) and she had the privilege of working side-by-side with Ophthalmologists where she aided in diagnosis and treatment of a variety of ocular diseases. It was an experience that has broadened her scope as a doctor and will allow her to give the best possible care to her patients.
After practicing on the mainland and flying up-island to serve Courtenay, she fell in love with Vancouver Island and settled in Victoria in 2012 where she has been practicing ever since. She is thrilled to join the Maycock Eyecare team and looks forward to serving patients downtown. Mandy is an active member of the Victoria Optometric Association and the British Columbia Association of Optometrists where she keeps current with the latest advancements in the profession.
Mandy is also passionate about traveling and was inspired by her volunteer mission experiences in developing countries including Ecuador (2009) and Panama (2015). During the missions, she had the opportunity to provide free eye care to thousands of underprivileged individuals and assisted in training student doctors of Optometry.
